Welcome! I'm Saman Monfared

ABOUT ME

Before becoming a coach, I was a competitive athlete who practiced combat sports, with freestyle wrestling being my main discipline. Wrestling is a multidimensional sport that demands strength, power, mobility, and a grueling kind of endurance. One day, I decided to incorporate Olympic weightlifting to become a more explosive athlete. I took a liking to the sport immediately, and shortly after, I began competing in it as well.

At that point, I was focusing on multiple disciplines at once. I knew that if I wanted to become exceptional, I’d have to focus on one sport—but I was too curious and eager to learn multiple things. Then one day, my coach called and asked me to instruct some wrestlers. I was reluctant at first, but I decided to give it a shot. And in that moment, everything just clicked. I felt like I could naturally put myself in their position. In turn, I noticed they were soaking up my instructions like sponges. From that moment on, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I ordered every book I could find on strength, conditioning, and sports psychology. I began studying sports science at the University of Umeå in Sweden and threw myself fully into my new mission. I started reaching out to elite athletes from different sports and offered them free coaching. I watched them all improve, and that only reinforced my confidence that I was on the right path.

Today, I work with athletes both on-site and remotely. I always maintain my curiosity. I keep learning, I study the greats, and I stay in touch with coaches and researchers. I want to stay updated with the latest innovations in every area. If that means letting go of an outdated idea, I’ll do it. My ambition is to coach and develop athletes for the highest levels of national and international competition.
